Der Verlauf der Verbraucherpreise nach dem EU-Beitritt

Abstract

Österreichs Beitritt zur EU wirkte sich auf die Preise von Nahrungsmitteln und Industriewaren am stärksten aus. Preisstabilität in diesen Verbrauchsgruppen ließ die Inflation in Österreich weiterhin zurückgehen. Die Teuerungsrate sank im II. Quartal 1996 auf 1,6%; dennoch lag sie über jener in Westdeutschland. Ein Vergleich der Preisentwicklung zwischen Österreich und Westdeutschland erlaubt für 1995 und 1996 eine grobe Abschätzung der preisdämpfenden Effekte der Mitgliedschaft in der EU.
