Lohnunterschiede in der Industrie

Abstract

Die Lohnunterschiede in der österreichischen Industrie weisen starke Schwankungen auf. Die wichtigsten Bestimmungsgründe sind die Lage auf dem Arbeitsmarkt sowie die Zahl der ausländischen Arbeitskräfte. Ein Rückgang der Arbeitslosigkeit verringert die Lohnunterschiede, ein Anstieg der Zahl der Beschäftigten aus dem Ausland erhöht sie. Mit der raschen Verringerung der Beschäftigung von ausländischen Arbeitskräften seit 1975 schrumpften die Lohndifferentiale, obwohl die Arbeitslosenquote stieg. Mit der Stabilisierung des Ausländeranteils Anfang der achtziger Jahre auf einem Niveau von 5% bis 6% verminderte sich dieser Einfluß, und die Auswirkungen der dramatischen Verschlechterung der Lage auf dem Arbeitsmarkt überwogen. Die Lohnunterschiede in der Industrie erhöhten sich wieder rasch und übertrafen in den letzten Jahren sogar die Spitzenwerte von 1976. Die steigende Zahl ausländischer Arbeitnehmer in den letzten Jahren dürfte diesen Trend noch verstärkt haben.
