Arbeitsmarkt weiterhin robust gegen Krisen?

Author

Abstract

Germany’s labour market performed remarkably well during the Great Recession. While GDP declined dramatically, employment remained stable. This article discusses whether the prerequisites for such a robust reaction would still be present in a potential new recession. The authors address the flexible instruments that helped establishments adjust by the internal margin, their motivation to actually make use of these instruments, the strong trend in the recent decade which determined labour market development beyond the business cycle, as well as recent labour market regulations.
