Abstract

The following work deals with the question which competences an entrepreneur needs to be successful. For this purpose, firstly Schumpeter's definition of an entrepreneur is introduced and contrasted to "the hast". lt is the central task of an entrepreneur to lead - therefore the paper is dedicated to the concept of leadership. The term competences is also introduced. Particularly, a distinction is made between ordinary and meta-competences. The latter is a competence for competences; there may be a few more, but this work focuses on two obviously central ones: action competence that steers professional, methodological, social and self-competences, and volition which controls will and emotions. In conclusion, however, it is stated that in addition to meta-competences, another competence is decisive for the entrepreneur, which, however, is not a metacompetence itself, but plays an important role as a key competence: communication competence.
