Capital humano y desigualdad: un análisis de cointegración para Ecuador

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es examinar la relación entre el capital humano y la desigualdad en el Ecuador en el período 1980-2015 mediante técnicas de cointegración. Los Resultados muestran la existencia de una relación a corto y largo plazo entre la desigualdad y el capital humano en el período analizado, además de la existencia de causalidad unidireccional desde la desigualdad al capital humano. Los resultados son consistentes con el marco teórico utilizado, y sugieren la necesidad de incorporar políticas y programas que busquen disminuir la desigualdad, mediante una expansión educativa el cual es un factor importante para reducir la desigualdad educativa y, por tanto, la desigualdad de ingresos.
