El fracaso de las políticas económicas en Chile: La Misión Kemmerer y la Misión Klein-Saks (1925-1958)

Abstract

La Misión Kemmerer y la Misión Klein-Saks fueron dos programas económicos que se implementaron por medio de técnicos extranjeros denominados peyorativamente como Money Doctors. Si bien las recetas de ambos proyectos respondían a buscar soluciones en el corto plazo -como la vuelta al patrón oro en el caso de la primera y la disminución del gasto público en el caso del segundo- no fueron capaces de responder a una de las dificultades que Chile arrastraba desde el Siglo XIX: la inflación. La cual se busca enfrontar políticamente en tres subperíodos: Antecedentes y problemáticas de la Misión Kemmerer (1925-1932), el liberalismo pragmático de Arturo Alessandri y el fracaso de las políticas proteccionistas (1932-1952) y la Misión Klein-Saks (1952-1958).
