Abstract

ABSTRACT The analytical context of this paper is characterized by the integration and economic globalization processes that affect to the European regions at the present time. We aim at analysing some of the main competitive factors, such as the labour costs and the productivity. With this objective, the evolution and level of regional competitiveness for the period 1995-2004 are analysed. Results show the existence of high regional disparities, varying with the sector. Finally, we find evidence of a significant and positive relation between the level of competitiveness and the economic growth of the European regions (EU-15) since Nineties to the present time.
