La propuesta de impuesto turístico (Ecotasa) para Lanzarote

Abstract

RESUMEN En 1991 Lanzarote (Canarias, España) emprendió un proceso de contención del crecimiento turístico en la isla, para reducir la presión ambiental. Proseguir este proceso conlleva elevados gastos para lo cual se requieren fuentes de nanciación extraordinarias. Este trabajo discute la propuesta de un impuesto turístico para la isla, popularmente conocido como ecotasa , discute lo principales diseños posibles y estima su capacidad de recaudación. ABSTRACT In 1991 Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain) started a process to restrain growth of tourism in the Island, in order to reduce environmental pressure. To proceed with this process implies a high cost and therefore new nancial sources are required. This work details a proposal to implement a tax on tourism, discusses different possible options and estimates their ability to generate income.
