Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper analyses the efficiency and efficacy of public centers of secundary education. Given the especific characteristics of the public education sector (no prices for some inputs or outputs, problems to define a generic production function, multiple-output/multiple-inputs units...) DEA is used for extracting information about the observations and obtaining conclusions. Futhermore, three new DEA approaches are proposed. They allows to compute the combined influence of efficient units over the inefficient and real efficient centers and estimate the optimum variation levels of the original quantity of inputs or outputs when the desired levels of the variables are changed.
