Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to contribute to the empirical knowledge of the occupational situation of young women in Spain, focussing on activity and occupation. For this purpose, bivariate estimation methods are considered, highlighting the influence of local labour markets. To the extent that southern Spain is at a disadvantage compared to other areas in this respect, we analyse this geographical area separately in order to make comparisons. The data source is the Encuesta Sociodemográfica (INE, 1991). This survey supplies information on the occupational activity of individuals, together with other relevant social and economic aspects.
