Abstract

[eng] Non-salaried workers in non-agricultural sectors: a population which has remained stable for ten years - Non-salaried employment, apart from the agricultural sector, accounted for 2.5 million people 30 years ago; today it amounts to approximately 2 million. After a considerable drop, the proportion of non-salaried workers in the non-agricultural, commercial labor force stabilized at about 13% during the last few years. Since the early eighties, the stability or the growth of this part of non-salaried employment has been confirmed in nearly all regions. The population of employers or self-employed workers has become younger, particularly in the building or service sectors. Thanks mainly to these two sectors, non-salaried employment has currently been stabilized at the same level. On the other hand, in the commercial and industrial sectors, the number of non-salaried jobs has steadily decreased since 1954.
