Abstract

[eng] Regional employment in 1986 - The economic projections made through the year 1985 (see Économie et Statistique, No. 115, October, 1979), coupled with a model for regional forecasts (PRUDENT), were the basis for this forecast of the offer of employment in regional France in 1986. For technical reasons involving the consistency of regional and national data, the scenario of « regulation through demand »— that is, the most pessimistic scenario for employment — was used as the basis of the study, while other scenarios were only used as variants. The results obtained in the central office were compared with those of regional office of the INSEE and were modified accordingly, given the more detailed experience on the local level. The general tightening of the employment situation which became clear in the national forecast will make it difficult to undertake simultaneously development projects in little industrialized regions and assistance programs in the regions hardest hit by the economic crisis. However, the South-West and the Center West will not be affected by the overall decrease in employment The Central Highlands J\e Massif Central) will be the hardest hit region.
