Abstract

Our endeavour represents a critical approach that takes into account the analysis, from a critical perspective, of the sphere of economics as it was stated by the scholastic economic literature. We also discuss how the concept of "economics" meets the general scientific criteria. Redefining economics will be the natural outcome when we will find that its sphere generates some of the issues raised by its scientific character critics. Because we will reach the conclusion that it is not only the sphere of economics that makes it difficult to meet the scientific criteria, we will identify the rest of the causes that leave their mark on the scientific character of economics.
