Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the main factors responsible for the development of the electronic industry in Santa Rita do Sapucaí. Hence, it promotes a debate with the authors who claim that the new Brazilian industrial distribution after 1980 and the subsequent formation of a polygon of development encompassing several Brazilian States result from the industrial deconcentration of the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region. It was concluded that the main factors responsible for the growth of the local system were: the availability of qualified local human resources, local and global knowledge networks, the local entrepreneurship, the productive complementarity and the interactions among local agents.
