Abstract

(This article discusses the current importance and future development of economic and business ethics in the curriculum of economics and business administration. We can observe that an expanding number of chairs for economic and business ethics, as well as courses concerning economic ethics at universities and colleges of higher education stand in opposition to the systematical abolishment of courses with normative content in the curriculum of economics and business administration. The consequence is therefore not an institutional gain in prominence for economic and business ethics but rather an additional loss in prominence for normative issues at most departments of economics and business administration. This development is substantiated based on prototypes in the education of ethics in the faculties of the universities.)
