Komárno: A Flagship of Symbolic Politics at the Slovak-Hungarian Border

Abstract

Depuis le traité de Trianon, Komarno est, dans la politique symbolique slovaque et hongroise, beaucoup plus qu’une simple ville à la frontière de l’ancien État dirigeant. Elle représente l’ensemble de la communauté hongroise en Slovaquie. Les auteures se fondent sur l’histoire orale tirée d’interviews qu’elles analysent en lien avec les politiques locales ou centrales des gouvernements slovaques et hongrois. Elles étudient plus précisément la perception qu’ont les Hongrois et les Slovaques de Komarno d’eux-mêmes et de leur environnement bi-ethnique. La cohabitation quotidienne au niveau local et l’instrumentalisation de la question nationale par Bratislava et Budapest sont mises en regard. Il apparaît alors que l’évolution de la communauté bi-ethnique est entravée par la politisation de la question nationale, entendue comme une part de l’héritage post-communiste, comme si la frontière physique, dont les contours ont disparu après la chute du rideau de fer, devait être remplacée par une frontière symbolique linguistique et nationale.
