Abstract

Scientists now recognize that suicide is generating more and more victims. Suicide prophylaxis efforts do not appear to have proven effective. We believe that currently, efforts must be channeled against psychiatric factors (social anomie, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, neurosis) and socio-familial (disappearance of family support, disappearance of religious support, alcohol and psychoactive substances, internationalization, virtual socialization), which are amplified by the effects of civilization. Our half-century studies confirm that suicide is becoming a global public health problem.
