Regional Income Disparities in Indonesia: A Comment

Abstract

Tulisan ini memuat beberapa tanggapan terhadap tulisan Uppal dan Budiono Sri Handoko dalam EKI, no. 3, 1986 tentang kesenjangan pendapatan antar daerah di Indonesia. Dengftn menggunakan data PDRB per kapita di luar sektor pertambangan, Uppal dan Budiono menyimpulkan bahwa ada kecenderungan menurunnya kesenjangan pendapatan antar daerah di Indonesia dalam kurun waktu 1976- 1980. Namun demikian, perhitungan kami menunjukkan bahwa kesimpulan seperti tersebut di atas tak dapat diterima begitu saja. Dalam tulisan ini akan kami sajikan beberapa pembuktian yang menunjukkan adanya kecenderungan menaik dari kesenpngin pendapatan regional. Tetapi perlu kami kemukakan juga tentang kualitas data PDRB yang digunakan, dimana pada bagian-bagian tertentu ketemndalan data tersebut agak diragukan. Karena itu pada waktu menditang mungkin perlu digunakan data yang lain seperti pengeluaran konsumsi regional per kapita. Dalam tulisan ini kami buat suatu perbandingan singkat antara PDRB per kapita di luar sektor pertambangan dengan pengeluaran konsumsi regional per kapita.
