[The great contradiction in the great transformation]

Abstract

Ez a cikk A nagy átalakulás olyan belső logikai ellentmondásának a kifejtésére vállalkozik, amelyet eddig a Polányival foglalkozó irodalom még nem észlelt: Polányi narratívája két, egymással diametrikusan ellentétes közgazdasági elméletre építkezett. A könyvnek az elsőtől az utolsó fejezetig tartó része a marxi munkaérték-elméletre építkezik. A könyv utolsó fejezetében azonban- amelyben felvázolja az általa elképzelt ideális szocialista társadalmat - Polányi Menger szubjektív értékítéleten alapuló értékelméletét alkalmazza a piaci mechanizmusok jellemzésére. A két, egymásnak ellentmondó értékelmélet használata a könyv nagy ellentmondása. A két, egymásnak gyökeresen ellentmondó piacfelfogás következménye az, hogy vagy a könyv első 250 oldalán leírt fejlődéstörténet nem igaz, ha Polányi a szabadság kulcsának tartja a piacot, vagy a könyv legvégén felvázolt piackép nem lehet igaz az első 250 oldal fényében, ahol a szerző börtönként jellemzi a piacot.
