Abstract

A decision aid developed for members of the Parliament was used to evaluate the desirability of a new big nuclear power plant in Finland. The decision analytic approach was positively received by the politicians. It also helped to structure the public debate on nuclear power in the media. The project showed that decision aids can be very useful in public policy issues if they are introduced early into the decision-making process.
