Merenungkan Kembali Mekanisme Transmisi Moneter Di Indonesia

Abstract

Pengalaman kita akhir-akhir ini menunjukkan bahwa sekarang hampir tidak mungkin bagi otoritas moneter untuk mengendalikan secara cukup pasti perkembangan agregat-agregat moneter. Kita makin menyadari betapa makin sulitnya mengarahkan perkembangan agregat-agregat ini sesuai dengan apa yang kita inginkan, terutama dalam jangka waktu pendek. Paradigma lama yang secara implisit masih kita pakai mengatakan bahwa Bank Indonesia dapat langsung megnendalikan uang primer (M0), dan selanjutnya, dengan anggapan bahwa money multiplier cukup stabil, dapat mengendalikan M1 dan M2. Lebih lanjut lagi, dengan anggapan bahwa income velocity relatif stabil, melalui pengendalian M1 dan M2 Bank Indonesia dapat mempengaruhi PDB nominal atau permintaan agregat.
