Crescita economica e impatto della crisi: il ruolo dei distretti industriali in Italia

Abstract

Il lavoro descrive l’evoluzione delle province italiane nel corso di questi ultimi anni, analizzando la posizione espressa dalle aree prevalentemente distrettuali, in modo da offrire nuove evidenze sul legame tra distretto e sviluppo industriale del paese. Per l’individuazione dei distretti si è scelto di adottare un procedimento di rilevazione indiretta che si basa sull’individuazione della prevalente caratterizzazione strutturale della provincia. Lo studio si distingue in due fasi: nella prima si procede alla rilevazione delle performance di crescita negli anni 1995-2007; nella seconda si valutano in via preliminare gli effetti della crisi internazionale. I risultati attestano una dinamica migliore per le province altamente distrettuali. Per quanto riguarda gli anni della crisi (2008-2009), queste aree sembrano risentire meno dell’impatto recessivo. Le stime econometriche indicano la presenza di un effetto distretto in grado di influenzare favorevolmente il trend occupazionale nel settore industriale. Il risultato è confermato in presenza di due importanti variabili di controllo: la dimensione settoriale e il ricorso agli ammortizzatori sociali.
