Abstract

I. El caracter de la crisis reciente. La catastrófica declinación experimentada recientemente por el peso, de 8 a 4 centavos de dólar o menos en cuestión de meses, combinada con la salida casi histérica de fondos, constituyó uno de los desórdenes más graves de la economía mexicana en decenios. Es probable que nunca llegue a saberse con precisión las dimensiones de la salida de capital ni las fuentes de los múltiples rumores que circularon en México y el extranjero acerca de invasiones campesinas, repartición de tierras por el saliente presidente Echeverria, recriminaciones intercambiadas entre el Presidente y los representantes de empresarios, banqueros y agricultores. Todo eso ha dejado a los observadores con una extraña sensación de azoro...
