Abstract

The evaluation of the urban sustainability is a priority line in the Local Agenda 21. However, the progresses in this matter are very heterogeneous. At the local level the principal contributions were focused on the elaboration of the common indicators of sustainability and on urban life quality. Facing the decisions in terms of urban strategic planning or the tracking of the Local Agendas 21, the sustainability indicators are supposed to be an instrument of great utility. The present article focuses on the analyses of the tendencies at the evaluation of the local sustainability. The principal analytic focuses give an identification of the models at the evaluation of the processes towards the sustainability. Finally, this experiment is used to develop alternative criteria instead of the traditional ones at the moment of the selection of an indicators system in terms of Local Agendas 21.
