Abstract

This article looks first at the different approaches to the study of factors for competitiveness in financial marketplaces. It goes on to propose that the traditional concept of “financial marketplace” be replaced by the broader concept of “economic and financial marketplace”, which is better suited to regional marketplaces. It then reviews the process of change currently being undertaken by the economy and the financial marketplace industry, and finally outlines an innovative strategic architecture for such regional marketplaces as Bilbao, bearing in mind its specific characteristics, Traditional financial marketplaces, especially regional ones, are obliged to make strategic movements and major creative efforts.
