Abstract

This paper concentrates on the viability of the establishment, within the public sector, of management and organization techniques used by corporations in the private sector. The analysis is based on the economic theory of contracts and its results indicate that the public sector presents idiosyncratic aspects in relation with the private sector that require the design of a specific theory on how to carry out its management.
