Abstract

The analysis of change and occupational structure in an economy allows us to infer interesting conclusions reference to its degree of qualitative development as a portrait, from the point of view of workforce, of technology in the various sectors of activity. A forecast on their evolution allows us to predict possible future disadjustments between labour offer and demand for each of its qualifications, between training and corporate needs. The purpose of this study therefore is to carry out a small exercise in the projection of occupations in the Basque Country in the year 2000 and to quantify their respective expected growths. Broad applications in the fields of planning and information, labour and education alignment and placement policies may derive from this knowledge.
