Abstract

This article sets out to characterise the channels through which food wholesale distribution is organised in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and provide an approach to the market quotas of each of them. Faced with the predominance of integrated/associated commercial organisations in the distribution of «dry food» (packaged products from the food industry), independent wholesalers still maintain a dominant position in the marketing of fresh products (fruit, vegetables, meat, etc). The control of this segment will be the next objective of large organisations.
