Energy and buildings in Mediterranean countries: Present and future

Author

Listed:
  • Butera, Federico M.

Abstract

Less developed countries seem to follow the same development pattern already followed by the most developed ones, as far as the use of energy in buildings is concerned; i.e. they are going to repeat the same mistakes, not preparing themselves for a more concerned energy use. Present situation and trens in heating and cooling are discussed, as well as the use of solar energy for hot water production. Also the relationship between the mediterranean climatic context and the potential of bioclimatic architecture is examined.
