Competitive power generation from biomass

Abstract

A new process for cleansing and drying raw biomass shows strong competitive advantage for renewable power generation. Agricultural production of biomass material over an area of 6000 hectares is projected to sustain a conventional high efficiency steam turbine power plant of 36 MWe. Busbar cost of electricity is anticipated to be 3.7 ¢ NZ/kWh (1.5 p/kWh).
