Abstract

Experimentally observed aging effects in spin glasses have been explained at the mesoscopic level by domain theories. We show for the example of a one-dimensional model system how such a domain theory can be given a microscopic basis. The system is a random Ising chain with Glauber dynamics, which differs from the usual random chain in that its couplings are also randomly temperature dependent; such will be the case e.g. after renormalization of a strip of finite width.
