Abstract

The heat-transfer behavior (cooling intensity) in long cylinders containing pure fluids has been studied experimentally and analytically during transient and steady-state conditions in order to determine the cooling rate applied to cans of beverages, storage vessels for fluids and the design of cooling systems. The heat-transfer correlations presented provide a fast and inexpensive method for the prediction of center and axial temperatures. The cooling behavior is exponential with time.
