Abstract

The thermal behavior of the walls and roofs of thermally insulated and uninsulated buildings in hot humid climates was experimentally investigated. Two identical housing model huts were built, one insulated with extruded polystyrene foam boards and the other was uninsulated. The inside room temperatures of the two huts were kept the same by means of air conditioners. The thermal behavior was measured over a period of six months. The external and internal surface temperatures of the west and east walls were measured, as well as the roof membrane temperature.
