Neue Evidenz zum Schulerfolg von Zuwanderern in der zweiten Generation in Deutschland

Abstract

Zuwanderer und ihre Kinder leiden zum Teil erheblich unter Eingliederungsschwierigkeiten, die sich besonders bei den Jüngeren in erhöhtem Arbeitslosigkeitsrisiko und geringer Schulbildung spiegeln. Auf Basis von Assimilationseffekten wäre zu erwarten, dass Sprach- und Integrationsprobleme der Zuwanderer im Zeitablauf abnehmen, wenn sich die Familien in die deutsche Gesellschaft integrieren. Die Evidenz, die bereits mit Hilfe von Haushaltspanels und älteren Mikrozensusbefragungen gewonnen wurde, zeigt, dass diese Erwartung nicht hält. Hier wird anhand der Daten des Mikrozensus 1997 überprüft, in welcher Form sich die in Deutschland geborenen Zuwandererkohorten an die Schulbildungsstandards der Einheimischen angepasst haben. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt dabei Unterschieden nach dem Herkunftsland, dem Geburtsjahr, dem Wohnort und dem Geschlecht bei Einheimischen und Zuwanderern.
