The Influence of Competitiveness on Wages in the European Countries. Application of the Trend Surface Analysis

Abstract

The aim of this article is the analysis of the impact of the competitiveness on the average hourly wages in selected European countries. Additionally, the attempt to identify the spatial trend of the wages is made. The trend surface model, based on the country capitals’ coordinates is used. The conclusions from this work may highlight the value of the spatial aspects inclusion in the economic research.
