Influencia criminal en la geopolítica del arco minero del Orinoco

Abstract

El presente artículo describe las características geopolíticas de la región denominada Arco Minero del Orinoco (AMO), resaltando la importancia que se le debe dar a esta región desde el ámbito de la Inteligencia Estratégica, para lo cual, se hace un estudio cualitativo basado en referencias primarias y secundarias con análisis axial. Se plantea cómo diferentes grupos armados ilegales han realizado actividades tendientes a ejercer el control ilegal del territorio, identificando un marcado interés por realizar acciones criminales en esta región. Sumado a la mutación de amenazas transnacionales y un marcado interés de multinacionales que se han establecido en la región, apoyadas por regímenes totalitarios, con el fin de extraer minerales y piedras preciosas a través de agrupaciones criminales que colaboran con el Estado y asumen algunas funciones. Se concluye que la afectación criminal irradia en esta región por los actores que convergen y sus diferentes intereses geopolíticos.
