Desarrollo sustentable a veinticinco anos medido desde sus compromisos ambientales y sociales

Abstract

La propuesta de desarrollo sustentable tiene como antecedente la preocupación por la devastación y contaminación ambiental y por las condiciones de desarrollo social. En 1987 surge dicha propuesta con tres deberes globales: la protección del medio ambiente, la justicia intergeneracional y la equidad intrageneracional. Esta investigación se propone analizar el estatus de esos compromisos, a veinticinco anos del surgimiento de la iniciativa, ulterior a un andamiaje de acuerdos, políticas y proyectos específicos. La indagatoria sucede desde dos perspectivas: puntualizando los resultados de Huella Ecológica para enmarcar el compromiso hacia la protección ambiental y retomando los datos del Índice de Desarrollo Humano como indicador proxy para referir el progreso hacia el compromiso social intra e intergeneracional. Se concluye que el desarrollo humano sustentable es desigual regionalmente, con alcances parciales sobre los compromisos asumidos desde los anos ochenta y con la propia humanidad.
