La economía va bien pero el empleo va mal: factores que han explicado la demanda de trabajo en la industria colombiana durante los anos 2002-2009

Abstract

Resumen: La dinámica del empleo en la última década no está correspondiendo de la misma forma en que lo está haciendo la economía colombiana, pues se ha encontrado en las estadísticas que en momentos en los que la tasa de crecimiento del país es significativamente alta, la demanda de trabajo no responde en la misma proporción, si bien aumenta en algunos casos, estos incrementos se ubican por debajo de los mostrados por la economía. Lo anterior lleva a indagar sobre los factores, a parte del crecimiento, que están incidiendo en la demanda de trabajo en el país, específicamente en la industria manufacturera. En este artículo se realiza una estimación econométrica que resuelve el interrogante y muestra algunos factores que pueden estar determinando la demanda de empleo en este sector, en donde se destaca la productividad laboral y del capital en la determinación de los empleos. Los resultados se esperan sean de gran utilidad para enfocar las políticas públicas en estos factores y dinamicen la demanda laboral.
