Análisis De La Situación Económica De La Agroindustria Azucarera Colombiana

Abstract

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo calcular la productividad del campo con el índice Proco (productividad de la cosecha de cana) y el índice Culco (cultivo - cosecha) de la cana entre 1981 y 2007 para el Valle del Cauca. Como resultado de esta investigación se observa que existe correlación negativa entre estos dos indicadores. La metodología utilizada es la incorporación de variables que determinan la función de producción tanto de azúcar como de etanol, así como los costos totales con los cuales el gremio azucarero maximiza sus beneficios. Finalmente, se estima el modelo en la serie histórica de 2005 a 2008 cuya variable dependiente representa la oferta relativa de azúcaren términos de etanol, explicada por los precios relativos del azúcar y la molienda de cana.
