La educación superior en América Latina frente al desarrollo regional y la globalización

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza el papel que ha venido desempenando launiversidad latinoamericana, particularmente la pública, en el contexto dedesenvolvimiento de la educación superior, teniendo en cuenta el escenarioeconómico neoliberal y las condiciones de gobernabilidad que enfrenta laregión. Así mismo, se establece que el desarrollo científico y tecnológico esindispensable para lograr afectaciones positivas en el crecimiento económicoy en el desarrollo sostenible y para lograrlo debe fortalecerse a lasuniversidades, en cuanto el financiamiento público de las mismas, ypermitirles, desde su autonomía, reestructurar sus currículos y sus sistemasde investigación y formación posgraduada en áreas específicas.___________ABSTRACT:In this paper, the role that the Latin American university has played is analyzed,with special emphasis on the public universities, with regards to thedevelopment of higher education in neoliberal economics the general governmentalconditions will face the region.In addition, this paper proposesthat scientific and technological development are essential to achieve positivechanges in economic growth and sustainable development. In order todo this, it shuld be a responsibility of the government to help in the financingof the public universities and they shuld be allowed to demonstratetheir autonomy in the development of their academic curriculum, investigativeresearches and postgraduate studies in specific areas.
