Estimación de la demanda colombiana de importación de bienes intermedios y de consumo en los anos setenta

Abstract

El presente trabajo fue motivado en buena parte por el debate existente acerca de la magnitud de la elasticidad-precio de la demanda de importaciones en Colombia. Sin pensar que este trabajo vaya a solucionar el debate, se pensó que sería muy interesante profundizar el tema dadas las implicaciones de política económica que tiene su eventual definición. En efecto, es determinante para establecer si la política cambiaria puede ser el instrumento básico para equilibrar la balanza de pagos tanto en el corto, como en el largo plazo. También eventualmente puede ser muy importante para determinar la magnitud y velocidad de los efectos inflacionarios de la devaluación.
