Reduziert mehr Homeoffice die Emissionen im Verkehr?

Abstract

Nach den Ergebnissen einer Studie von Waldemar Marz, ifo Institut, senkt ein größerer Anteil von Homeoffice-Tagen zwar kurzfristig die Anzahl der Fahrten zur Arbeit und die entsprechenden CO2-Emissionen. Langfristig ziehen die Menschen jedoch im Schnitt von den Innenstädten weiter weg, um von billigerem Wohnraum auf dem Land zu profitieren. Zudem sinkt mit mehr Homeoffice auch der Anreiz für die Haushalte, sich sparsamere Fahrzeuge anzuschaffen. Beide Anpassungsreaktionen gleichen die anfängliche Absenkung der Emissionen fast vollständig aus.
