Abstract

Will the set-up of special segment unions and the co-existence of several collective agreements in companies endanger the stability of labour relations in Germany? As a complement to the articles in ifo Schnelldienst 9/2012 and 10/2012, IG BAU presents the principle of uniform tariffs from the viewpoint of a collective bargaining party. For him, the co-existence of tariff agreements within a company is unthinkable in a branch in which all of the key working conditions are established by generally binding tariff agreements. In such cases there can only be one valid rule in a company.
