Seit 25 Jahren: das ifo Geschäftsklima als Konjunkturindikator

Abstract

Der Artikel thematisiert das 25-jährige Bestehen des ifo Geschäftsklimas unter dem Aspekt der Entwicklungen und Fortschritte auf diesem Gebiet. Eine dieser Errungenschaften waren die Verknüpfung von Ex-post- und Ex-ante-Daten, durch die ein aussagekräftiger Konjunkturindikator konstruiert werden kann. Eine weitere ist die schon seit langem praktizierte Methode der qualitativen Fragen, die Unternehmen leichter zur Antwort animieren und außerdem zukunftsgerichteter sind. Seit dem Jahr 1990 werden auch Erhebungen in Ostdeutschland durchgeführt, die mit der Errichtung von Berichtskreisen begannen. Die Daten werden Im Jahr 1997 noch getrennt für die alten und neuen Bundesländer erhoben und ausgewiesen, an der Zusammenführung der Umfragen wird jedoch gearbeitet.
