Mehr als nur Kohle? Die Wirtschafts- und IndustrieregionLausitz – Teil 2: Wachstumsprojektion undZukunftsperspektiven bis 2030

Abstract

Das nominale Bruttoinlandsprodukt pro Kopf der Lausitz liegt – für eine ostdeutsche Region typisch – auch ein Vierteljahrhundert nach der Wiedervereinigung noch um rund 20 Prozentpunkte hinter dem gesamtdeutschen Durchschnitt. In Zukunft dürfte sich der Angleichungsprozess in Pro-Kopf-Größen nur langsam fortsetzen. Insbesondere der demographische Wandel wird die wesentliche Triebfeder für die zukünftige Entwicklung sein. Dieser Beitrag ist der zweite und abschließende Teil einer Reihe, welche die Wirtschafts- und Industrieregion Lausitz in den Blick nimmt. In diesem Artikel präsentieren die Autoren eine Projektionsrechnung für die Gesamtwirtschaft der Lausitz bis 2030. Im Basisszenario sind es vor allem die demographischen Probleme, welche das Wirtschaftswachstum ab den Jahren 2017/2018 zum Erliegen bringen könnten. Der Lausitz bieten sich aber auch Chancen, insbesondere durch ihre spezifische Wirtschaftsstruktur, dieser Entwicklung entgegenzuwirken.
