The Current International Financial Crisis And The Financial Supervision Institutional Arrangements Effectiveness In The European Union Countries

Abstract

The international financial turmoil rise challenges in evaluating and choosing the optimal financial supervision institutional arrangements in many countries. Our study focuses on the financial supervision institutional architecture and its effectiveness in the European Union during the international financial crisis.We evaluated the effectiveness of the financial supervisory framework by groups of countries, categorised according to the supervisory model. Our analysis demonstrates that the performances in what concerns the crisis management were different from one country to another, but also according to the supervisory model, the best performances being registered in those countries using the unified model of financial supervision.
