Abstract

The purpose of the work is to define and structure the sequence of business digitization levels with a description of their main distinguishing features. At each of the formed stages, the levels of digitalization of business and certain preconditions of the transition are presented, which ensure changes in the formation of digital business and the digital tools used. Understanding these processes will allow management business decisions to be made more consciously, comprehensively, and reasonably, in accordance with the conditions and needs of the enterprise at each stage of digitalization. The article presents the sequence of levels that the business goes through the digitalization process, the prerequisites for their changes, which determine the prospects and possible problematic aspects of the transition to each subsequent stage. The development of business systems always involves moving from the old to the new, from the past to the future, from the simple to the complex. Digital development, like any other, is characterized by infinity and cyclicality : the achievement of goals is replaced by the setting of new ones. The optimality of the trajectory of the digital movement is ensured by a clear understanding of the factors, the sequence of steps, the prerequisites for the transition and the methods of digital transformation. The proposed author’s approach reveals the sequence of stages (levels) in the process of digital transformation of business and its formation as a digital ecosystem. The logic of this process includes five stages : renewal of digital initiatives – beginning of digitalization - adoption of digital reality – self-regulation and multivariate foresight - open digital ecosystem. The starting points of the theory and methodology of the research were the key provisions of the theory of the development of management and organizational systems, change management and strategic planning in the conditions of digitization of the economy, business and society. Empirical methods – description, comparison, modeling, as well as methods of general scientific knowledge – abstraction, formalization, generalization and system approach were used to investigate the issues of determining the sequence of stages of digital transformation of business. The toolkit of the research is represented by graphic methods and structural and logical schematization.
