Abstract

This paper will provide a high-level overview and discussion of Addison's old backup and recovery environment and the steps taken to implement a secure, robust, scalable and efficient enterprise-level solution with acceptable recovery time and point objectives as well as compliance with the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and Appendix B to Part 748 of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act 1999 (GLBA). The paper will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each solution presented to Addison, and will explain why one solution was chosen over the two alternatives. Furthermore, this paper briefly discusses disaster recovery at Sungard, Addison's disaster recovery hot-site. In addition, helpful tips and lessons learned are pointed out.
