Desempenho dos Microempreendedores no Brasil

Abstract

Os microempreendedores formam um grupo muito heterogêneo no Brasil, mas sobre-representados na pobreza. Este artigo examina, com base nos dados da Pesquisa da Economia Informal e Urbana de 1997 e 2003, os determinantes dos rendimentos dos microempreendedores com intuito de contribuir para o desenho de políticas públicas na área. A performance dos pequenos empreendedores está relacionada ao capital humano, financeiro e social e à formalização dos direitos de propriedade. Educação é um bom preditor de renda dos microempreendedores principalmente nos quantis de renda mais elevados. Já a experiência é mais importante para a base da distribuição. Capital social e crédito também explicam o desenvolvimento desses negócios, mas enquanto o efeito do capital social foi estável ao longo dos quantis, o capital financeiro foi mais importante para os mais ricos. A formalização da atividade econômica apresenta efeitos positivos e significativos sobre os rendimentos dos microempreendedores ao longo da distribuição de rendimentos..
