Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine similar/overlapping side between human values and their personality traits of them. Correlational survey model was used in the study. Totally 527 students of second, third, and fourth grade of four universities (2 government, 2 private that had students of EA-2, SAY-2, SÖZ-2 and DİL of ÖSS fields) with cluster sampling constituted the sample of the study. The data was collected by Rokeach Value Survey and Adjective Check List scales from the sample. The Spearman Rho (Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficent) also used to examine the congruence between terminal–instrumental values and personality traits (the relationship between the group of 18 terminal values and personality traits composed of 24 sub-groups and the relationship between the group of 18 instrumental values and personality traits composed of 24 sub-groups). After the data collection, the data was statistically analyzed. Thus, the relationship between human values and personality traits of the sample were determined. As a result, statistically significant relationship was found between the personality traits of the university students and their human values. But there was not a significant relationship only between true friendship and personality traits.
